Last year I found your beer in the HEB stores in Austin, TX but this year the store mgr said the distributor has quit handling your beer. I'm going to Dallas this week and wondered if there was a distributor there that I could get your beer.

Hiya Harold. Thanks for writing in. You're probably a bit confused. Black Star is not currently being distributed in Texas. That's why you can't find us in Austin, and therefore still won't be able to find Black Star in Dallas. We're going through some growing pains and left a couple markets, yours being one of them, in order to guarantee inventory in others. We'd love to come back to Texas sooner than later, and it sure is good to know that we're missed down there. As it stands right now, the closest place to you that carries Black Star is Northern California. Small road trip? Please let me know if I can help you with anything else, Mary

I have tried dozens of lagers always seaching for the best one. Well, on a business trip yesterday to the Sacramento, CA area, I purchased a six pack of Black Star Golden Lager. Well.... my search is over!!! Your beer is the best tasting, smoothest lager I have ever had. I have not seen your beers in my area (near Bakersfield, CA) but I will search until I do!!! In the meantime, I will enjoy the two cases I was able to secure while I was in northern CA. Thanks for a great product and I will introduce everyone I know to your beer. Thanks!!! JJ

JJ, can i say, that you just made my Monday?! You did, absolutely. I am so happy that you gave us a shot and liked what you tried. That's the reason we do this. We love Black Star and think its the best beer out there. Tell your friends! Celebrate! Just so you know, though, (do you notice that's the second time I've rhymed to you?) Black Star is only available in Northern California right now. We're working on returning to the southern part of the state and hopefully will be there soon. You're fantastic, thanks for sharing the good news. Take care, Mary

I like your beer, but for something billed as "double-hopped," it could be hoppier. Add more! Be Bold!
Reply:
Oh you crazy man you! You crazy, crazy, crazy, hops-loving fool! Was that a dare? Are you daring us to be, let's say, TRIPLE HOPPED? Is that what you want? Huh? Is it? But JJ just said its the best beer he's ever had! Can we just please everyone? Just for the day? Just once! That's all I ask for Dan. As for more hops, we're pretty set with the recipe we've got. But of course, there's always room for tweaking....Have a hoppy, i mean happy, day! Mary

I'm from Billings but am living in Spokane, WA and recently returned to The Last Best Place and was unable to find my favorite hefeweizen, Wheatfish. Where can I find it? I could not find it in Billings or Bozeman. What are the chances of it appearing there or here in Spokane? I'll even pay extra to have it shipped to me in WA. Please let me know where or how to get it. I need it bad!

Hey Rich. Next time your passing by from Spokane to Billings, be sure to take a minor detour through Whitefish. Wheatfish, along with Wild Huckleberry, Big Fog and Snowghost, have become draft only beers. That's why you're not able to find a 6-er in your local grocery store. We're cranking out Growlers here in the tasting room. In case you're not familiar, a Growler is a refillable 64 oz. jug that you can bring in to get filled with your Black Star beverages of choice. We can set you up with a few of those filled with Wheatfish, and find out what bars have Wheatfish on tap in Billings. As for it making its way back to you, babe, in Spokane, its not going to happen in the near future. Thanks for inquiring! Mary

I don't see on your site that the brewery offers real, non-virtual tours, but rumor has it that you do. I'll be in the area in a few weeks - can we stop in and take a loo-see?

Hi Eve. We'd love for you to come visit us and hang out in our tasting room- its a fun place. We don't offer a daily, guided tour, we will work something out for groups who'd like a tour, but they are by appointment only. Our beautiful brewery is built with lots of glass so visitors are able to have a look at what's going on. We've also got a cool photography exhibit, that details our brewing process here, as well as a computer available to access our website, live cameras which post tasting room photos on the site, and FREE BEER. Could you ask for a cooler place to spend some time? I don't think so. Hopefully we'll see you soon-summer tasting room hours are M-Sat, 12-6. Thanks! Mary

Greetings, Black Star Beer!I have been reading through a number of your emails now and it seems there are a number of Wisconsinites in need of Black Star Beer. You can add another name to the list. My personal favorite is Big Fog. No other beer even comes close to the taste. It is disappointing to go from greatness to mediocre. I've had this experience with pizza now as well. If you are ever in Wisconsin and you have Monical's pizza in Arbor Vitae, you'll know what I am talking about. I tasted your beer for the first time when I was at Glacier National Park last summer. I brought some home but not nearly enough especially since I chose to share it with friends and they loved it(surprisingly... since some of them don't normally like beer). It goes down so smooth. Kudos to you on your awards and your quality products! Keep it up! I shall return to Montana someday...with a large truck, since suitcases aren't nearly large enough to bring enough beer back.

Hi Kristin! Nice taste in beer. Set something straight for me though- is the pizza place you mentioned the makers of good pizza or the mediocre pizza you're dealing with lately? I don't want anyone to get confused (truthfully, I'm the one who's confused). Bottom line is though, I get your point! I miss my favorite pizza place from back home all the time. Luckily, I get my fill of yummy, refreshing Black Star daily. Maybe we can work out some kind of barter...Wisconsin cheese for Black Star? You mull that one over Kristin. Thanks for writing in! Mary

"WAY" above average web site. I discovered you while playing around with a Radio Shack "Cue Cat". If you have a San Diego location that carries your product please let me know, otherwise I will pick up a sixpack the next time I am in Hemet.

Thanks Bob! What's Cue Cat by the way? Sometimes it takes a little while to hear about the new, cool technology here in Whitefish. Right now, we're not in San Diego, you'll have to travel further north in your state to pick some up. I do hope you will try us out soon. We make some good beer! Let me know what you think, cheers, Mary

I have a strong in interest in acquiring Black Star beer for personal consumption. I got my first taste of it at the W3B in Austin, Texas a couple or few years ago. It was awesome. Mind you it was tap not bottled, although, I am sure I would enjoy both. However, I live in Michigan - so you know I have no access to Black Star. I do get to some of the nine states you are distributed in, 4 or 5 times a year but have only seen it the one trip to Texas when it was a test market. Is there any hope for me to become a regular drinker of Black Star and live in the Detroit, Michigan area? Thanks.
Reply:
That depends on what you're willing to do for Black Star Daniel. Are you willing to travel here and stock up? Or perhaps bribe some Montana locals to ship you Black Star on a regular basis? The choice is yours. I'll tell you what, though, Black Star sure is worth it. Fill us in on your gameplan, Mary
