About Downloading
A few things to keep in mind about downloading

1. Try to save the download file in a temporary or unused directory or in a folder on your hard disk. Remember where you saved it because...

2. Once you've downloaded the file, the normal procedure is to "run" it using the Windows "Run" command, or by double-clicking the Installer icon (Mac). When you run the file, it will give you some instructions on how to install it.

3. Typically, the installation procedure for a download asks you where on your disk you want to place the permanently installed software. It's a good idea to give each application its own home directory, and name it something that you can remember. For example: if you download the IPIX Viewer, you might save the application files in a folder or directory called: "IPIX" or "IPIXView".

A helper application
We have a helper application which we use internally at our office which can make installing applications easier. This is definitely an optional program which you may use at your own risk. However, for a normal Windows/Netscape installation, it can really simplify downloads and eliminate having to search around on your disk for the file you just got through receiving.

To use this helper app, download it from the Media Max ftp site. There are two versions, one for Windows 3.1x and one for Windows 95. Of course, until you download the helper app, you will still have to go out and find the files you downloaded and then run them using the appropriate run commands under Windows.

A note about technical support
Since we're a beer company and not a software company, we give you all the download software for free. We try to make sure that the software works perfectly, but sometimes it doesn't, and we don't have a large staff of technical people who can help.

First, please read the download disclaimer and make sure you understand it. It means, that while we try hard to make sure you don't have any problems with downloads, in the end, we cannot be responsible if you do. If you're worried about it, you're better off not downloading. Second, if you do have a problem with the software, we'd like to hear about it. Send questions or problems to: help@blackstarbeer.com, and we'll do our best to get back to you with a solution.
